About HMR®

HMR stands for Health Management Resources™. It is the top medically-supervised weight management program in the country. It is often associated with universities and physician groups. It has been around for over 25 years and has been used by over 1 million patients.

HMR is the top program because it has fast, easy to prepare foods that are both nutritious and delicious. The variety of pre-packaged entrees (and the ability to combine HMR entrees with other ingredients) teach you about portion size, while keeping you from feeling hungry. And the cost of HMR food is only about $85 per week (studies have shown that between grocery bills and eating out, the average American spends about $100 per week on food).

The HMR program espouses the belief that "More Is Better"™--so you don't feel deprived. Studies have shown that you lose more weight over time if you don't feel deprived, because you don't eat as many unhealthy snacks.

In the weight loss phase of the program (13 weeks), there are weekly 90-minute classes, which build each week upon what you have learned. These classes provide structure and accountability, as well as motivation and support. There is also a separate maintenance phase to the program, to help you deal with life after the weight loss and to help you keep the weight off.

HMR's keys to success:

  • Decision-Free® Diet--meal replacement only; no outside food. This plan requires strict medical supervision.
  • Heathy Solutions® Diet--consists of a daily diet of 3 HMR shakes + 2 HMR entres + 5 cups of fruits & vegetables. Weekly 90-minute classes, but no ongoing medical supervision.
  • HMR at Home®--you're provided with HMR at Home® Diet Kits to do the program by yourself, and optional phone support.
